At the start, he provided the most detailed, and, as it turned out, accurate estimate and gave us creative, cost effective ideas to ensure we got the home we wanted within our budget. He was very ‘hands on’ during the build process. He’s very knowledgeable and it’s evident he has a lot of experience building complicated homes. Now that the house is done, Will is very responsive to any questions or issues we have, however, it’s important to note that we have not had a single serious issue with the house. The house is of the highest quality and we could not be more pleased with how everything turned out.

It is my great pleasure to recommend Will Hines. Will was the builder of our home on Winchester Way at the Reserve at Lake Keowee completed in March of 2013. Both my wife and I were working full time, so we delegated much of the decision-making to Will including finishings in our house. We simply asked him to build it as if it were his own home.
His constant guidance, attention to detail and follow up recommendations to cut costs or expand livability allowed us to build a beautiful home on budget. Every time we wanted an upgrade, Will would suggest some cost savings in other areas to help keep us on budget. We had no up charges for change orders—a typical nuisance that plagues the construction industry. For example, Will was able to expand our original footprint and add an en-suite bedroom at minimal cost. It was a no-brainer afterwards, but not included in our original plans.
As we were not constantly on site like some residential customers, it was refreshing that there was continual progress on our house, active workers and a clean and safe work site every time we visited the site announced or unannounced. We were thrilled that the whole house was completed and on budget in six months. This is remarkable timing for our community 30 minutes from Clemson. Finally, after the house was built, Will has been terrific providing post-construction service.
Overall, we would give the highest recommendation for Will Hines. Two of our friends have used Will and have been similarly delighted with his service and integrity.

I writing this letter of reference in support of Will Hines from a business perspective but I would support Will personally in any endeavor he needed for me to act as a reference for him. I have been working since September of 2014 with Will in the construction of a home that will have a value of nearly $2 million when completed late this summer. As you might imagine, this is my most significant investment in a lifetime and the relationship with my builder, Mr. Hines, is critical on many fronts not just financially.
I have served as a CEO in four different businesses over the past 14 years and I found that success was driven in each of those businesses by hard work, strong communication, high integrity and execution. It is Will’s desire to achieve all of these attributes during my construction process that has made, what can be a very stressful and often trying situation, this a real success with me. Will has worked to find ways to satisfy my construction goals while meeting the cost objectives established a year ago. It takes good communication and strong opinions to do this as things change every day in a project of this magnitude. Will has provided me a copy of every invoice every month and has made me aware proactively of changes or potential issues long before they could get serious. With all that said, Will’s real secret to success, in my opinion, is his day to day ownership of my house construction. There has never been a time that i have been on site at the construction that Will is not there are willing to be there. He has a dedicated team of craft people who have real allegiance to him because he roles up his sleeves and stays involved in all the details every week.
I close this letter of reference by saying that I have developed a level of respect and a partnership with Will during the construction of my home that I think is rarely achieved between a homeowner and the builder. In fact, I have offered to Will the opportunity to use my home whenever he needs a “real time” reference for any new potential client. I believe that is the ultimate letter of reference and I would support Mr. Hines in any way possible after working with him for the past year!
